Day 15
Today we took the morning safari at 5.30 am to see the elusive tiger. Weather was just nice but the open top Gypsy drive with wind on our face made it a wee bit cold.
Inside the park we took a different route today. It took us through narrow winding trail with overgrown elephant grass on either side. With no tiger sighting yet, we asked our guide to check if we can focus on tiger trail. We came out of our current route onto tarred road, where we met another tour team who indicated seeing a tiger crossing the road few hundred meters away! Excitement all over we raced to this spot. There were a dozen or so gypsies parked there already, but after few minutes they left. Our guide suggested we stay back for a while, reason being tigers go around in pairs and since they are on either side of the road, one may cross the road soon.
After a while, we could hear the male roaring (presumably not happy with our presence), but neither would come to our view. We were the only vehicle in that area and we parked and waited for 45 minutes. The wait was exciting as we could sense they are near, but we were unlucky as the tiger never came out of the shrubs.
Though we were unable to see any tigers in the wild, we had a good time in the most famous National park of India.
Rest of the day was spent relaxing. Dinner was at a local restaurant, Village Vatika, who served some excellent dishes.
Fulltankers are looking forward to our trip ahead - Chandigarh.
At end of day fifteen - 5205 kms (no change as we have are still in the resort) on our tracker.
