Day 12
We have relatively short distance to travel today. Khajuraho to Lucknow is about 300 kms and estimated driving time of 5.5 hours. We left Khajuraho at 7.00 am after collecting packed breakfast from a nearby restaurant, where we had visited the day before.
Lucknow was a midway stopover for us on our travel to Jim Corbett park and we planned only an overnight stay. We wanted to enjoy the local food and do a city tour.
Driving continued to be difficult with herds of cattle blocking a smooth journey. We are in the cow belt for sure!
We had booked our stay at Ramada Wyndham, but since the place is 20 kms before Lucknow we decided to check in first, have lunch and do a city tour.
Lucknow is the capital and the largest city of Uttar Pradesh (UP). It is a multicultural city that flourished as a cultural and artistic hub, and the seat of power of Nawabs in 18th and 19th centuries.
Mr. Rajiv Tyagi Retd Ex Director of RITES and a batch mate of #fulltanker NP at BHU, invited us to his house. Paresh Prasad COO and Technical Director of Integrated Wipe Industries also a batch mate too joined us. We had a great time with these luminaries in their respective fields and they shared their experiences in public and private sector in India. We are thankful to both for their great insights!
Post the chit chat and the interesting conversation, we moved to taste Lucknow delicacy “Tunday Kababs” which our friends had recommended before the start of this tour!
“Tunday Kababi” is a fine dining restaurant where we had the famous kebabs, mutton shahi korma and Romali roti. The service was perfect and we enjoyed the food thoroughly.
After dinner we drove around the city (or rather escorted around the city by a car and driver arranged by Paresh!). Reached hotel close to midnight.
We are now ready for our next adventure at Jim Corbett park. We have planned three nights halt and hope to catch up on several things!
At end of day twelve - 4770 kms on our tracker.
